Panel to discuss how strategic investments are fueling Greater Baltimore’s rise as a national leader in technology and innovation

Baltimore Tech Hub: Funding Innovation from Colleges and Universities to Meet Industry-led Challenges,” taking place at the upcoming 2025 Entrepreneur Expo on October 21, 2025 at The Hotel at the University of Maryland. This panel brings together leaders from industry, higher education and economic development to discuss how coordinated investments are shaping the future of technology in Charm City and beyond.
The Baltimore Tech Hub has emerged as a powerful driver of economic growth, attracting new businesses and talent while building a pipeline of cutting-edge startups. Industry-led efforts, spearheaded by the Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC), have complemented university-driven initiatives like the Baltimore Fund, which supports innovators and entrepreneurs in launching and scaling their ventures. Adding to this momentum, the State-funded Baltimore Innovation Initiative (BII) is now deploying targeted investments to advance new technologies and strengthen the ecosystem across the region’s universities, colleges and community colleges.
“This conversation is about aligning resources and partnerships to position Baltimore as one of the nation’s leading hubs for innovation,” said Abishek Kulshreshtha, executive director, Maryland Innovation Initiative (MII), TEDCO. “By connecting industry challenges with academic strengths, we can accelerate technology development and job creation.”
