COLUMBIA, Md., (October 12, 2026) — TEDCO, Maryland’s economic engine for technology companies, announces the “Cyber in the AI Era: What’s Next for Maryland?” session at the upcoming 2026 Entrepreneur Expo taking place at the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor on October 27, 2026.

The session will bring together James Saunders, chief information security officer at the Maryland Department of Information Technology; April Falcon Doss, deputy secretary, policy and stakeholder engagement of the Maryland Department of Commerce and formerly associate general counsel for intelligence law at the National Security Agency; Jacob Hsu, general partner at Just Ventures; Jack Cable, CEO and co-founder of Corridor, an AI code security company, and formerly senior technical advisor at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency; and Tobias Musser, co-CEO of MNS Group, a Bel Air cybersecurity and IT firm supporting government contractors and commercial clients on network security and compliance — for a conversation moderated by Seeyew Mo, senior adviser for Cyber Maryland at the Maryland Department of Labor.

“Maryland has a robust cyber ecosystem, with more cybersecurity talent concentrated in one place than anywhere else in the country, and AI is changing what that talent needs to know,” said Mo. “This panel brings together people and organizations that are defending State systems, training talent, building critical tools, and hiring Maryland’s cyber workforce into a single conversation. This kind of forward-looking collaboration is exactly what Maryland needs at this moment of transformation.”

The conversation will explore how AI is changing cyber operations, creating new opportunities for startups and innovation, reshaping the cyber workforce and influencing the future of national defense and critical infrastructure protection. Bringing together cyber leaders from government, industry, startups and the national security community, the panel will discuss the strategic choices Maryland can make today to strengthen its competitive advantage and remain a national leader in cybersecurity in the age of AI.

The conversation lands in a state where cybersecurity is both a major industry and a persistent constraint. A Cyber Maryland study identified more than 6,500 open public and private cybersecurity positions across Maryland and Washington, D.C., with demand projected to grow by nearly 40% over the following decade. Maryland has responded with direct investment, including $3 million committed to Cyber Maryland to expand career pathways in cyber and adjacent fields, and a $1 million cyber and AI clinic grant program running through January 2029. Nationally, CyberSeek counts hundreds of thousands of open cybersecurity roles, and the average cybersecurity pay in Maryland runs about $129,000 a year.

TEDCO’s award-winning Entrepreneur Expo shines a spotlight on regional entrepreneurship.
