ION Storage Systems, located in Beltsville, Md., is an emerging battery technology company aiming to commercialize a solid-state battery for defense and aerospace, medical, consumer electronics, electric vehicles and grid storage markets. ION's patented solid-state anode technology could enable batteries that offer a step change in performance, while being easy to integrate, creating a lower risk path to EV applications.

In April 2026, a delegation from TEDCO, Maryland’s economic engine for technology companies, arrived in Taiwan with a purpose: to deepen ties, unlock investment opportunities and build lasting bridges between two thriving innovation ecosystems.

TEDCO, Maryland’s economic engine for technology companies, traveled to Seoul, South Korea, with the goal of strengthening ties and unlocking new opportunities in biotechnology, investment and emerging technologies.

Before working at TEDCO, I always associated stewardship with financial responsibility. In my mind, it was something mostly comprised of managing resources carefully, protecting investments, and making smart decisions with limited capital. All of this is a part of it, especially in an organization that supports entrepreneurs across Maryland, but after spending time working across operations, reporting, and internal systems, I have started to see things a little differently.
 

1104Health, located in Bethesda, Md, operates the Shared Care Network — a platform with the objective of connecting local oncologists and academic subspecialists to coordinate patient care while also working to identify clinical trial and treatment options for their patients. The platform is free for physicians and creates aligned incentives across the oncology ecosystem. The company aims to democratize access to cancer precision medicine to improve patient access and outcomes.
