TEDCO awards $7.1 million to 25 stem cell projects in Maryland
To date, more than $139 million has been committed to over 400 research projects in the state through the fund. Earlier this year, TEDCO awarded $1.1 million to four other stem cell projects. All fund-sponsored projects must be conducted in Maryland and involve human stem cells.

Insightin Health, a Gaithersburg data startup that connects health insurers with consumers, has raised $2 million in seed financing. New York-based venture capital firm Health Catalyst Capital Management led the round with participation from several local investors.

TEDCO has awarded an herbal medicine company in Queen Anne’s County the first round of pre-seed funding offered through its recently expanded Rural Business Innovation Initiative. Lisa Ball, CEO of Plum Dragon, received a $25,000 investment to help grow her Chinese herb business.
