At the TEDCO Expo, Impruvon shared how a deeply personal tragedy sparked the creation of a medication management platform now helping providers in Maryland and beyond deliver safer, smarter care.
At the TEDCO Expo, innovation is more than a buzzword, it’s about showcasing real solutions to Marylanders’ most pressing challenges. Few companies embody that mission more personally than Impruvon.
Back in October 2025, at the TEDCO Expo, Chris Frew, CEO of BioBuzz, sat down with Impruvon CEO Justin Amoyal to talk about the problem his company is tackling, and why it’s so personal.
Turning Personal Tragedy Into Purpose

Impruvon was born from unimaginable loss. Founder and CEO Justin Amoyal lost his brother, Ben, in 2019 due to medication mismanagement. In the aftermath of that tragedy, Amoyal made a decision: no other family should have to endure what his did.
What began as a deeply personal mission quickly evolved into something larger. Through extensive customer discovery Impruvon uncovered a systemic issue. Medication management in long- and short-term residential care facilities was not only complex and inefficient; it placed heroic nurses and caregivers at risk of preventable mistakes, regulatory penalties, and burnout.
Rather than placing blame on individuals, Impruvon focused on fixing the process.
Building Technology That Protects Care Teams
Founded in 2020, Impruvon developed a smarter, scalable enterprise medication workflow management platform designed to control and optimize the entire medication lifecycle – from pharmacy delivery to administration to documentation within EMAR and EHR systems.
Importantly, Impruvon is not an EMAR or EHR, and it is not a pharmacy. Instead, it integrates with existing systems, helping residential organizations connect and optimize the tools they already use.
The company’s Medication Management Suite includes a robust Pharmacy Integration Engine connected to more than 100 pharmacy systems nationwide. Its platform equips each role within a care organization with customized tools:
- Nurses use a mobile app designed for real-time alerts and one-click access to critical information while on the move.
- Administrators utilize a web-based interface that provides organization-wide visibility, real-time compliance alerts, and tools to reduce liability and missed reimbursement.
Impruvon’s philosophy is simple: simple interfaces powered by sophisticated technology. By reducing manual entry, eliminating redundant processes, and providing proactive alerts, the platform derisks medication management while empowering caregivers to focus on what matters most – the residents they serve.
Why Maryland
While Impruvon serves customers across 11 states, Maryland holds a special place in the company’s journey.
Maryland was home to Impruvon’s first customer, a milestone that validated both the product and the mission. Building in Maryland has provided access to forward-thinking providers, collaborative pharmacies, and a supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem that champions founders who are solving real-world problems.
That ecosystem includes TEDCO, whose mentorship and guidance have been instrumental in helping Impruvon navigate the complexities of fundraising, scaling, and enterprise sales. Amoyal has specifically credited Teddy Gresser, Senior Director of Seed Funds at TEDCO and the rest of the TEDCO team with helping the company understand what it takes to succeed and grow, from capital strategy to customer acquisition.
For early-stage founders, that kind of mentorship is invaluable. For Impruvon, it helped transform a mission-driven startup into a rapidly scaling health technology company.
Expanding Impact Through Strategic Partnerships
Impruvon’s growth continues through key partnerships that extend its reach and impact. In October 2025, the company announced a strategic partnership with Statewise, a leading all-in-one software platform for Medicaid-funded providers.
Through this collaboration, Statewise customers will gain access to Impruvon’s Medication Management Suite beginning in January 2026. The integration enables real-time data exchange, seamless pharmacy coordination, reduced manual data entry, and improved compliance oversight – all within providers’ existing Statewise workflows.
For Impruvon, the partnership represents an expansion of its mission: making care safer, smarter, and easier for organizations serving some of the nation’s most vulnerable populations.
A Future Built on Alignment
At its core, Impruvon understands a critical truth: healthcare organizations are businesses operating within tight regulatory and reimbursement frameworks. Improving care must also align with operational sustainability.
By reducing compliance risk, preventing costly errors, improving documentation accuracy, and helping providers capture appropriate reimbursement, Impruvon aligns mission with margin. Better care and stronger financial performance don’t have to be at odds.
That alignment is what makes Impruvon’s story especially powerful at the TEDCO Expo. It is not innovation for the sake of innovation. It’s technology shaped by lived experience, built through a customer-first approach, and supported by a Maryland ecosystem that believes in its founders.
At the TEDCO Expo, that’s exactly the kind of story Maryland is proud to showcase.
