TEDCO announced it has invested $1.8 million in 12 startup companies. Six were spun out of Johns Hopkins University, and two apiece from University of Maryland, Baltimore; University of Maryland, College Park; and University of Maryland, Baltimore County. TEDCO also invested more than $4.4 million

That whiteboard session gave birth to the concept of the SueChef, a countertop robotic appliance, about the size of a large microwave, that can keep up to five frozen premade meals stored in a built-in freezer, and transfer them into the convection oven portion of the device on command.

TEDCO, Maryland’s economic engine for technology companies, announced its recent round of funding, including investments in 12 start-up companies and funding to 36 university projects through the Maryland Innovation Initiative (MII).
