Maryland startup offers hands-free alternative to treating nosebleeds without the Emergency Department

COLUMBIA, Md., (November 24, 2025) — TEDCO, Maryland’s economic engine for technology companies, announced a recent $250,000 Pre-Seed Builder Fund investment in NasaClip, a woman- and minority-led startup which created a new device to assist in a painless, hands-free method for stopping nosebleeds. The Pre-Seed Builder Fund is housed under the umbrella of TEDCO’s Social Impact Funds.
“Nosebleeds can be nerve-wracking and scary, but, more often than not, they are non-life-threatening,” said Elizabeth Clayborne, MD, CEO and founder of NasaClip. “Unfortunately, the care for nosebleeds offered at the emergency department tends to be invasive, costly and painful. This is why I founded NasaClip – to fill the gap and enable the everyday person to take care of their own health and wellness. With the most recent investment from TEDCO, I am excited to continue this journey.”
NasaClip, based in Baltimore, Md., is a startup company focused on providing patients with painless, hands-free treatment for nosebleeds. The NasaClip device was designed to provide constant, uninterrupted external nasal pressure combined with intranasal sponges that can be medicated to stop bleeding fast. The FDA-registered device seeks to provide a more cost-effective, timely, easy-to-use alternative to emergency room visits and is designed with portability in mind.

“The innovation ecosystem in Maryland continues to thrive, as can be seen through entrepreneurial spirits like Dr. Clayborne’s,” said Jean-Luc Park, TEDCO’s deputy chief investment officer & senior director of Social Impact Funds. “TEDCO is committed to continuing to uplift and strengthening the ecosystem, thereby creating more opportunities for diverse growth, economic development and sustainability across the state.”
NasaClip has been a member of TEDCO’s portfolio since 2020, when it received their first investment from TEDCO’s Builder Fund. This was followed by participation in the SBIR/STTR Proposal Lab in 2022; upon graduation, NasaClip submitted a proposal that won $256,000 SBIR grant funding from the National Science Foundation. Later, the company received two more investments from TEDCO – one through the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) funding and another through the Social Impact Funds.
“Home to one of the top 20 best hospitals in the nation, Maryland offers a collaborative community filled with researchers, medical professionals and academics looking to support a better quality of life for all,” said TEDCO CEO Troy LeMaile-Stovall. “Plus, with a great value placed on innovation and entrepreneurialism, the opportunities offered are continually growing and will be a boon to anyone looking to grow a business.”
TEDCO’s Social Impact Funds are carefully designed to engage and invest in economically underserved founders and communities. Through this intentional design, TEDCO continues to work towards a more diverse and sustainable entrepreneurial community in Maryland. For more information about our funding opportunities, click here.
