Panelists to discuss the potential the ‘virtual patient’ brings to regenerative medicine

COLUMBIA, Md., (June 24, 2026) — TEDCO, Maryland’s economic engine for technology companies, announces the upcoming session “The Virtual Patient: Coding Cellular Twins to De-Risk the Bench and Accelerate Cures” to take place at the 2026 Entrepreneur Expo this October 27, 2026. The session will be moderated by Ben Antebi, associate director of Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund (MSCRF), and will feature three life sciences experts.
“The regenerative medicine path to cures continues to be riddled with challenges, including a slower, more costly process that is prone to late-stage failure,” said Antebi. “The application of a virtual patient brings new possibilities to the industry, creating opportunities to more efficiently de-risk discoveries and accelerate translation.”
Throughout the session, attendees can expect an insightful discussion about the emergence of the ‘virtual patient’ – a potentially disruptive solution at the intersection of stem cell biology and artificial intelligence. The discussion will dive into how Maryland’s bio-innovation ecosystem is transforming regenerative medicine into a scalable, investable path to accelerating cures.
During the session, attendees can hear from:
• Kapil Bharti, National Eye Institute
• Annie Kathuria, Johns Hopkins University
• Seth Ament, University of Maryland, Baltimore
